“Hong Kong -- The Real Experience” Carnival

Date: 17/10/2005

As a finale to the department’s series of publicity campaigns to promote intellectual property rights (IPR) in 2004, the "Hong Kong -- The Real Experience" Carnival was held at Kowloon Park on Saturday, 11 December. Jointly organized by C&ED, the Intellectual Property Department and the Yau Tsim Mong District Civic Education Campaign Committee, the carnival was aimed at publicizing to tourists and local shoppers that Hong Kong was a “Shopping Paradise for Genuine Goods”. It featured a mini concert comprising famous performance artists, DJ-host dedicated song programme, and game booth design competition involving secondary schools and non-government organizations. Representatives from the Police, Consumer Council, Tourism Board, Travel Industry Council, as well as various organizations in the IPR industry also attended the carnival to show their support.

At the opening ceremony, our Deputy Commissioner, Mr Lawrence Wong appealed to all members of the public and traders to lend continuing support to upholding Hong Kong’s status as the prime shopping destination for genuine goods. To illustrate the positive impact of a united front in the community, he elaborated on the effectiveness of the Intellectual Property Rights Protection Alliance formed by C&ED in collaboration with IPR industry in March last year.

Needless to say, members of the public much enjoyed playing at the game booths and the attractive prizes won. Under a joyous atmosphere, the carnival was concluded with a singing performance by pop singers, which was most appealing to our young audience.
