Seminar on “Developments in the IP World” by Mr. David Llewelyn

Intellectual Property Investigation Bureau (IPIB) invited Mr. David Llewelyn to conduct a seminar on “Developments in the IP World” at IPIB Headquarters, 25/F, Customs Headquarters Building on 17 June 2011.

Mr. Llewelyn has rich knowledge and experience in all aspects of intellectual property protection and exploitation, as well as the resolution of disputes concerning intellectual property by negotiation, mediation, litigation and arbitration. He is currently the Honorable Professor at Hong Kong University, Visiting Professor at Singapore Management University and Deputy Chairman of the IP Academy, Singapore, and Professor of Intellectual Property Law at King’s College London.

Speaking on the subject to some 30 IPRPA members and Customs officers, Mr. Llewelyn shared his insight on the development of IP in the global as well as many contemporary IP issues, for instance, the impact of the rapid development of electronic intermediaries. In addition, Mr. Llewelyn answered a number of questions from the floor and his presentation was met with excellent response.

Following this successful seminar event in June, the next seminar entitled “IPR Enforcement in Gunagdong, Hong Kong and Macao” will be held on 15 July 2011. Senior officials from Customs General Administration of PRC, Guangdong Copyright Bureau and Macao Customs will make presentations on their respective specialized areas. Mr. Albert Ho of IPIB will also talk about Customs-IPR Partnership in Hong Kong.
